Escape to the Cotswolds: A Vineyard Stay for Two
A change of scenery, a little time together and the freedom to do as much or as little as you please. Sometimes, that's all you need for the perfect getaway.
There's something particularly lovely about the Cotswolds at this time of year. The landscape is changing, the summer crowds have thinned and the countryside takes on a slower, more peaceful rhythm.
It's a wonderful time to get outdoors, discover independent cafés and restaurants, explore charming market towns and return somewhere cosy at the end of the day.
Set amongst the vines in the beautiful Stroud Valleys, our Vineyard Barns at Woodchester Valley Vineyard offer a peaceful escape for two, with the South Cotswolds right on your doorstep.

A Little Place to Call Your Own
Our three Vineyard Barns offer a unique place to stay in the Cotswolds, combining the comfort of self-catering accommodation with the experience of staying on a working English vineyard.
Wake up to views across the vines, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and take your time deciding where the day might lead.
Perhaps you'll head out for a walk across the commons, explore one of the nearby villages or book a vineyard tour and wine tasting. Or perhaps you'll enjoy a slower morning, a good book and a glass of wine overlooking the countryside.
With your own private space to relax, there's no timetable to follow and no need to rush.
Whether you're celebrating something special or simply fancy a couple of nights away, the Vineyard Barns are a lovely base for a romantic Cotswolds break.

The Best of the South Cotswolds on Your Doorstep
One of the pleasures of staying at Woodchester Valley Vineyard is discovering just how much there is to see and do nearby.
The Stroud Valleys are known for their beautiful countryside, thriving food scene and independent spirit, making them a wonderful alternative to some of the busier Cotswold destinations.
For walkers, there are miles of footpaths winding through the surrounding hills and villages. From the vineyard, explore routes towards Selsley Common and Nailsworth, or venture a little further to Rodborough Common, Minchinhampton Common and Woodchester Park.
As autumn progresses, the woodlands turn shades of copper and gold, while the open commons offer far-reaching views across the valleys.
For food lovers, a Saturday morning at Stroud Farmers' Market is not to be missed. Browse stalls filled with locally grown produce, artisan bread, cheeses and seasonal treats before stopping for coffee or exploring the town's independent shops.
Nearby Nailsworth is another favourite, with excellent restaurants, welcoming cafés and independent food shops. It's the perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon before returning to the vineyard.
And if you'd like to venture a little further, the historic market towns of Tetbury and Painswick offer picturesque streets, independent boutiques and plenty of Cotswold charm.

Embrace the Changing Seasons
There's a reason we love welcoming guests to the vineyard throughout the year. Every season brings something different.
Autumn is a particularly beautiful time, as the vines change colour following harvest and the surrounding countryside becomes a patchwork of rich reds, golds and browns.
It's also the perfect season to visit Westonbirt Arboretum, famous for its spectacular autumn displays, or to enjoy the peaceful woodland walks around Woodchester Park.
As winter approaches, the Cotswolds take on a different kind of charm. Crisp mornings, quiet country lanes and cosy village pubs make it a lovely time to escape the everyday.
And after a day exploring, there's something rather satisfying about returning to your Vineyard Barn, putting your feet up and opening a bottle of Woodchester Valley wine.
Sometimes, the simplest moments are the ones you remember most.

Discover the Vineyard Behind the Wine
A stay at Woodchester Valley offers something a little different from a traditional countryside getaway.
As a working English vineyard, we invite guests to discover the story behind our wines, from the vines growing across the Cotswold slopes to the finished bottles.
Our Vineyard Tours & Wine Tastings are a wonderful way to experience the estate, learn about cool-climate winemaking and sample a selection of our award-winning wines.
It's an experience that brings a whole new appreciation to the landscape around you, and a lovely way to spend a few hours together.
