Updates from Woodchester Valley Vineyard on COVID-19

To all our customers,

First and foremost we hope you are all keeping well and safe. We want to thank you for the amazing support we’ve had over the past few months; we are very grateful! We are finally starting to feel a bit more normal and have re-opened our shop, restarted our vineyard and winery tours and have loved having guests back to stay at the vineyard. We are now hosting our classic and sparkling tours Tuesdays – Sundays. Please note that following the recent Government announcements we cannot accept any individual bookings of more than 6 people per group – our booking system will not allow you to enter more than 6 people per booking. We also require all guests to wear a face covering on arrival at the vineyard, during the tour and anytime that you are not seated at your allocated tasting table. You will be asked to confirm on arrival that you are not experiencing any symptons of Covid-19.

We are adhering to all the latest Government guidance and will continue to update this page with any changes that we make and if there are any changing to the guidelines.

Cellar Door Shop

We have now re-opened our doors to our Cellar Door Shop and we are open six days a week! Our current opening hours are as follows:

Monday to Saturday: 10am – 6pm

Sunday: Closed

Please note that we are unable to offer any tasting samples during this period. Please take note of the signage inside and outside our shop with regard to our Covid-secure procedures. We also ask that all our customers (unless you have an exemption) now wear face coverings when inside our shop in line with the current Government guidelines. 

We are continuing with our online and over the phone sales and will continue to offer free local delivery for any 6 bottle purchase for postcodes GL5, GL6, GL8, GL10 and GL11. This will automatically apply at the check-out. For deliveries further afield in mainland UK, delivery is free over £120 otherwise a £9.99 delivery charge applies. Please note we are currently unable to ship overseas.

We also have a ‘click & collect’ option on our website where you can order your wine online, choose the ‘Pick up in store’ option at the check-out so that your wine will be ready to collect. If you would like us to bring your ‘click and collect’ order out to you please phone ahead on 07523 967 219 so we can organise this for you.

We have a variety of collections and gift sets available on our collections page here. Gifts sent to the recipient can be personalised by adding a note at the check-out for us to include with the delivery.


Tours/Tastings/Events

We have now re-started our vineyard and winery tours and our winter schedule can be found on our tours page here. Please read through the below update regarding our Covid-19 procedures during our tours.

A couple of things to note:

  • Booking: ALL visits to the vineyard must be pre-booked – no exceptions. Please book through our website where you will receive a confirmation email. Please double check the date and time of your booking. If a date is showing in RED then it is fully booked – please look for an alternative date.
  • Track & Trace: In line with Government guidance, we need a name and contact number for each household for the NHS track and trace system should they contact us requesting it. This will be kept for 21 days and then disposed of safely and will not be passed to anyone else. 
  • Covid-19 symptons: We ask that if you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptons (a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of/change in normal sense of smell of taste) then you do not attend the tour. Please contact us and we will happily reschedule your visit or offer you a full refund. We will ask all guests to confirm on arrival that they are not experiencing any of these symptons.
  • Households & bubbles: Following the recent Government announcement we are unable to accept more than 6 people on an individual booking unless they are one household/support bubble. Groups of up to six are able to be booked online as normal. We will assume that each booking covers one household or social bubble and therefore will seat you together. We will lay out our tasting room accordingly so that social distancing can be adhered to. If your booking covers more than one household or social bubble, please inform us at the time of booking so we can note this and set up accordingly.
  • Capacity: We have reduced the number of spaces available on each tour in order to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Please listen to your host on arrival, where you will be shown to your table. Please DO NOT arrive at the tour with any guests that have not been booked in advance. Many of our tours are currently fully booked and if you arrive with a non-booked guest to a full tour, we will have to refuse entry for the safety of our staff and other tour guests.
  • Social distancing: Throughout the tour please remember to keep your distance from staff and other guests on the tour. Your host will brief you at the start of the tour with our procedures, and indicate appropriate places to stand and these will be marked clearly. We ask that you do not touch anything when in the winery. Our staff will need to approach your table during the tasting to provide your samples; they will be wearing a face covering for your safety. Please respect theirs by maintaining your distance as much as possible.
  • Face coverings: Please bring your masks or face coverings with you. You will be required to wear your face covering on arrival at the tasting room until you are shown to your allocated tasting table. Once seated you will be able to remove your face covering during the tasting and presentation at the start of the tour. Please wear your face coverings for the duration of the tour and when moving around our tasting room – for example, to the toilets or if approaching the counter. For guests who have forgotten their masks, disposable masks will be available for use. Should you wish to purchase anything at the end of the tour, we ask that just one member per household approaches the till and their wear their mask.

We understand that you may not want to come on a tour that this time. If you’d prefer not to commit to a date at this time then our tour vouchers are available for sale here and are valid for 2 years.

Events:

We are starting a reduced schedule of events again in November including our Vineyard Tour with Dog Walk, Fizz & Chips Evenings and some Christmas Events in December. Please see our events page here for full details.


Accommodation

We have now re-opened all our guest accommodation as we are are taking bookings as normal for our Vineyard Barns and The Retreat. Please see below for details regarding bookings for our different accommodation options. 

Vineyard Barns:.

If you’d like to book a stay then please get in touch with us or book online here. Please note that we have a two night minimum stay policy for weekend bookings.

Our standard cancellation policy for the Vineyard Barn guest rooms is 5 days before check-in. 

COVID cancellations: Please note that if we have to close due to Government travel restrictions then these bookings will be eligible to be rescheduled or refunded if another suitable date cannot be found. If you have a booking and are coming from a Tier 3 area then please contact as soon as you can to discuss your options.

The Retreat:

If you’d like to book a stay then please get in touch with us or book online here. Please note that we have a two night minimum stay policy for all bookings at The Retreat.

Our standard cancellation policy is 8 weeks for a full refund. 

COVID cancellations: Please note that if we have to close due to Government travel restrictions then these bookings will be eligible to be rescheduled or refunded if another suitable date cannot be found. If you have a booking and are coming from a Tier 2 area (with multiple households) or a Tier 3 area then please contact as soon as you can to discuss your options.

Woodchester Valley House:

Following the new Government guidelines we are now accepting bookings for either:

  • a maximum of 6 people if you are from different households. 
  • one household or support bubble. This can be larger than 6 people as long as you are all one household or support bubble.
  • Please get in touch directly if you’d like to enquire about a booking on stay@woodchestervalleyvineyard.co.uk

For all existing bookings over the next few months we will get in touch directly with your options.

Please note that we have a three night minimum stay policy for all bookings.

We hope to keep in touch with you all over the next few months and rest assured we will be back with our full schedule of events, tours and wine tastings as soon as we can.
